T minus 3… 2… 1… blast off. Houston, we have Angry Birds, in Space! Yup, in case you didn’t know already today marks the launch of the new Angry Birds: Space game. It launched on all platforms (iPhone/iPod Touch, iPad, Mac, Android, and Windows) starting at $0.99. A number of weeks ago I showed you Angry Birds in real life, now Angry Birds have made it to the final frontier.
At first I was a little skeptical of the concept because honestly I was a little Angry Birded out. I had just overdone it. Yes, that is possible. I also got stuck on a level and refused to buy the $0.99 Mighty Eagle in-app purchase on principle. The same thing happened on seasons too. At first I thought Space was going to be just like seasons with the same type of gameplay just set in out space. Thankfully I was wrong. In a moment of awesome cross-promotion with NASA (see video below), they did an announcement from the International Space Station showing the concepts behind the new gameplay.
The concept of the game is still the same. The birds are still angry at the pigs because they stole their eggs. Now that they’re in space the game world is totally different. Gravity has changed entirely. They also introduced gravity wells in which you’re going to have to use to navigate your way to killing the pigs. Some of the birds have been redrawn and new ones have been introduced too. If you thought the game was hard already it’s going to be harder. If you have already beaten every level I think this’ll give you a new challenge. Even though you may not realize it you’ll be solving math and physics problems. (Science!!)
I’m downloading right now so once I get some time to play I’ll let you all know it is. I think this is something to get excited for. Here’s to wasting many many more hours of our lives at Angry Birds:Space. Number 1, make it so!
